Learn to teach yoga with deep awareness. This unique yoga training is grounded in anatomy and yoga therapy with direct application to students with many levels of abilities, injuries and intentions. We employ an active learning approach with a focus on anatomy and physiology in a practical, easy way. This experience is much more than learning how to teach yoga; it’s an invitation to expand the mind, open the heart and heal the body.

Our Yoga Teacher Training exceeds the standards for Yoga RYS 200 certification and prepares you for Yoga RYS 500 follow-on classes.

A Schedule That Fits Yours

Life can be busy and committing to 9 weeks of training can be a challenge.  We’ve created a flexible training calendar to meet your needs!  Three units of study are offered to meet the 200 hour registration guidelines.  Take the units consecutively or spread them out over two years. Active learning allows you to explore the wonders and wisdom of your own body allowing a more expansive and intuitive teaching practice.

WEEKENDS, STARTING January 4, 2019

Friday, 6:00-9:00 pm, Saturday, 11:15 am – 6:45 pm,  Sunday, 9:45 am – 4:15 pm

Unit Two: Asana, Alignment and Adjustments

  • Ahimsa in Asana-nonharming movement rooted in anatomy

  • Changing traditional poses to provide sustainable movement

  • Practicum-assisting, observing, bringing your skills to light

(2019) January 4-6 -- January 25-27 -- February  8-10

UNIT THREE: COMMUNICATION, SEQUENCING AND THE ENERGETIC BODY

  • Intelligent Sequencing-designing transformative classes

  • Pranayama-strengthening the body through breath awareness

  • Business practices-ethics and presentation skills

  • Practicum-assisting, observing, bringing your skills to light

Class Hours

6 weekends, Starting January 4, 2019-3 weekends-Unit 1,September 2019

UNIT ONE: ANATOMY OF A HEALTHY PRACTICE

  • History and Evolution of Yoga-bringing the classical into the modern world

  • Yoga Philosophy-wisdom of the ages

  • Anatomy & Physiology-breathing life into the principles of movement

  • Dates to be announced-September

Practicum: In addition to the course each student will be required to complete 10 hours of practicum to obtain their RYS 200 certification.  These will be offered evenings through each unit.. 

Additional Class Hours:

  • 15 hours of take home assignments

  • 25 Additional Yoga Class Hours or Workshops: These Classes and Workshops must be taken with instructors at Rishi's Community Yoga or approved Certified Yoga Instructors in other venues.

Tuition

  • $2600 ($500 deposit with application). Final payment of $2000 due January 4, 2018 (credit cards not accepted)

  • $2700 if using Installment Plan; $900 with application

  • Installment payments of $900 due December 28,2018, February 15, 2019, September 2019

  • Cancellation Policy: Deposits are fully refundable up to 4 weeks prior to the beginning of training. If written cancellation is received after that date, deposit is 50% refundable.

Faculty

Karen Quinn, ERYT500, Certified Yoga Therapist, Certified Ayurvedic Practitioner is the lead instructor for this training. She brings 18 years and over 10,000 hours of teaching experience to create trainings rich in anatomy, alignment and ahimsa. Her emphasis is on sharing the many tools of yoga therapy that allows students to discover the wonder and ease of this ancient practice. In addition, we have assembled an incredible group of instructors with years of hands on experience to share their knowledge and expertise so that you can share with others the many gifts of yoga.

Jamie Hermansen, RYT500, own an operates Rishi's Community Yoga.  She shares broad and deep expertise of making the yoga practice accessible, safe and fun!
