Inflammation & Immunity

Imagine Cleansing and Loving Every Minute of it

Our physical, mental, and emotional health relies on the ability to process and use the nutrients that we ingest.  As much as 95% of the serotonin and dopamine in the brain is manufactured in our gut!  When our digestive system is clogged, excess mucus is formed, impeding lymphatic drainage

Had any of these issues?

  • trouble sleeping

  • chronic cough

  • bad breath

  • coating on your tongue (it should be pink)

  • puffy and crusty eyes in the morning

  • gas and bloating

  • aching joints

  • brain fog

  • skin eruptions

Poor gut health might be the culprit

Imagine your gut is like your kitchen sink. If you allow grease to build up in your drain, you’ll notice it quickly backs up and you end up with a stinky, dirty mess.  It’s the same in our bodies.

Lymph is the fluid that carries fat soluble nutrients and toxins from the skin into the lymph nodes where foreign invaders can be destroyed.  It then travels back through purifying nodes to the heart or spleen and eventually  “washed down the pipes”. If we eat greasy foods or add other toxins to our systems without regularly cleaning them out, they will back up just like our sinks.

Shriveling Inside

Dryness is another hurdle for our health to clear.  Summer is hot and dry, followed by winter which is cold and dry.  As we move into autumn, excess mucus can dry and harden in the GALT (gut associated lymphatic tissue).  The GALT is arguably the most important part of our entire digestive system as it’s responsible for limiting bacterial growth and moving digested food into the blood to provide essential nutrients.

An Ayurvedic cleanse cleans out the lymph and lubricates the tissue so that energy, prana (life force) and nutrients can flow freely.  The cleanse that we offer at Feel Better Yoga is based on what’s known as Purva Karma.  It’s a simple, easy and powerful way to shift towards wellness.  The basic steps include:

  • eating a simple diet, (perhaps a mono-diet) of seasonal, fresh foods

  • add herbs to support the body’s elimination and rebuilding process

  • add meditation, yoga and immersion in the natural world

  • daily practices of self-care (outlined in the cleanse notebook)

  • eliminate toxins from the diet including refined, packaged, and prepared foods (including alcohol, leftovers, coffee, chocolate, caffeine, red meat, and sugary foods)

Additionally, a daily online check-in and asana class add needed support and encouragement for this gift of self care.

We all know how satisfying a clean environment feels in our homes. Give your inner home the same gift.
